Boiler Project Timeline

If you’re planning on getting a new boiler, it’s worth finding out how long installing it is going to take. This will help you plan your boiler project and finish your project by any deadlines.

We’ve put together a sample timeline for your boiler project. Your boiler installation might take less or more time, but this should give you a rough idea.

How long will a boiler project take?

Research: 1 week

It’s a good idea to spend a considerable amount of time looking for the right professional for your project. You’ll should research a range of boiler installation companies and ask them for quotes. If you find contractors through our service, our companies will usually get back to you within 48 hours of you placing your enquiry.

Once you’ve found some boiler installers, you’ll probably need a couple of days to compare quotes and choose the best one. If you’ve found boiler engineers through our service, you can access their profile and take a look at their customer reviews to help you decide. You’ll also need to check that any engineers you’re thinking about hiring are Gas Safe-registered, as this is an industry requirement. If you use our service, we’ll have already done this for you.

Installation: 1-4 days

How long your boiler installation will take depends on your current boiler and the type of boiler you’re replacing it with. If you’re simply replacing an old combi boiler with a new one, then your installer could complete this in under a day. But if you’re replacing a conventional or system boiler with a combi boiler this will take longer – probably around 2 days. And if you’re replacing a conventional or system boiler with one of the same type, it’s more likely to take 3 or 4 days.

These time frames can all vary quite a bit so it’s worth asking your boiler engineer to give you a rough indication of how long your individual boiler project is going to take.

Total time: Less than 2 weeks

So if you’re in a rush to get a new boiler, you might be able to get your boiler project finished in less than two weeks. It will probably take 3 or 4 weeks for you to get your building regulations certificate through, which proves that your installation meets building regulations requirements. But this shouldn’t stop you enjoying your new boiler in the meantime.
