Replacing your boiler is important if you want to reduce bills and benefit from a more efficient property. And there are ways you can get a new boiler installed for free, under the ECO boiler and ECO grants scheme.
The ECO boiler and ECO grants are available in England, Wales and Scotland, typically for those on a low income or receiving Government support. The Energy Company Obligation is funded by energy companies though, namely the big six which includes British Gas, npower and Scottish and Southern.
The idea is to help people manage their expenses by lowering heating bills. Eligible households will benefit from an energy efficient boiler with an A-rating. Your boiler will need to be older than 10 years and the new installation will be completed by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
If you don’t qualify for this scheme, there are other options too, namely the Green Deal which issues you with a loan to cover the installation. Repayments are made with the money saved on fuel bills.
